On occasions though I have found that some genuine HA post just get lost in
the mass of hot topic post and when you get 20 mails on a subject you're
not interested in it is all too easy to delete the genuine one without even
seeing it.

I think the hot topic idea is a good one but the decision to move a
discussion over to it has to be the moderators call.
