We did say that we would have a video shoot out at the meet comparing
DVD with DVD ripped to HD with Divx. I finished building my HCPC
yesterday which I will bring along to the meet. All we need to decide
is what film(s) we want to do the test with (and probably will end up
watching in the evening). Playback (from the HCPC) will be via VGA
connection to a projector with SPDIF connection to DD5.1 amp. I could
bring a cheap standalone player too, but that would use an s-video
connection to the projector.

If it is a film that I have then that would make it easier as I could
bring the DVD and rip it to disk before the event! However I have
never created a Divx before, so it would be good if someone else
could do that bit (and explain in idiot terms with ULR's exactly what
I need to install on my HCPC to play it back).

So first off what film recommendations do we have? I've got a lot of
the 'blokey' stuff like Terminator 1+2, Alien Legacy, James Bond set,
Independence Day, LOTR etc etc and I'm quite happy to buy a disk if
there is something more recent that I don't have.
