The first thing I would do is check that if you remove all the middle
bits -
effectively if I read it right by going directly to the other side of your
fireplace that it all works OK. - I think this point is the direct source
onto the cable that NTL provide you if I read your info right.
If you still get the problem then you can involve NTL - they preset the
levels into each house from the boxes in your road - I had a similar
problem
with my cable modem - it would drop out for say 30 mins at a time. They
removed some attenuation in my street box and it went away.
I am guessing you are an NTL Digital subscriber - that way the STB could be
losing enough signal to fail to decode and create blank screens.
If however all works from the other side of the fireplace then NTL
won’t be
interested ( actually using the words NTL and interested in a related way
is
a bit of a paradox I’ve found ) You’re then going to have to
look
carefully at your segment wiring - for example if you have any splitters or
dual outlet faceplates or a cable modem / FM aerial diplexer ?? If you go
to
any dual outlet faceplates the signal is attenuated even though only one
outlet may be in use.

I've just finished rewiring our lounge complete with Satellite cable but we
keep getting a problem. The NTL cable goes as follows:
NTL incoming -> faceplate on one side of fireplace -> faceplate in
loft ->
cable to another faceplate in loft -> face plate by TV (other side of
fireplace) -> NTL cable box
The problem that we are having is that every so often the picture blanks
out for a few seconds. It's really intermittent (one or twice a night for
about 10 minutes) making it hard to test. Anyone seen anything similar or
give me a few pointers of what to start checking. Getting this sorted is
top of the SWMBO snagging list.
