RE: Broadband Cable Router
Rob,
I have Telewest broadband, and my cable modem (a Motorola) has:
Coax in (this is like Michael says, in from he street)
Ethernet (CAT5) out. (Goes to my linksys router, had for 18 months only
rebooted once, when I did a firmware upgrade)
Also has USB, but I don't use this.

Coax is the cable in from the street which connects into the Cable
Modem. I have NTL and you can then connect your PC/Router to the Cable
modem either using USB OR CAT5. If his presents only as USB then you
will have to use some software based sharing setup, if CAT5 then a
broadband router will do the trick (Linksys, Netgear, Dlink etc)

Picking up on an old thread here. I have a friend with telewest
broadband. He tells me that his 'box' supplied by telewest is coax in
and usb out?
I'm going to network his 3 home PC's so he can make use of his broadband
(The bugger!).
Not got to his house yet but I'm presuming that he's talking about a
10base-T connection when he refers to coax? Will the Linksys router
talked about attached to this directly?
Anyone with telewest broadband could enlighten me and save me an hours
drive to take a look?
