It's not the remote thats the problem, it's the software.

All I want to see on my TV is a menu with a list of videos, select them play them, navigate them - full screen.

Nothing out there yet that can do that as far as I can tell

   This has been do-able for some time on anything from Win98
upwards.  You don't need the XP hyperbloat to do it!  Just the right
remote controller, which is available from many shops.
