I've been liaising with Ian Bird regarding controlling his relay
board via serial link from PC - he's making good progress on a PIC
based serial controller.

What is needed at front end is a (hopefully simple) program, ideally
in Visual Basic, as it's standard stuff, to schedule the operation of
the relays. Sure it cannot be rocket science to do this but may just
as well be 'cos my programming's very limited. Does anyone out there
know how to put something like this together?

The program would need to run 24/7 and be able to send commands at
scheduled times eg <<at 02:00 send "ON relay 1">>, <<at 03:30
send "OFF relay 1">>. It will ideally need to be able to perform
simple control (eg if sensor says its raining, send OFF signals to
all garden watering relays), monitor status information coming from
serial port, maybe produce a log, alarms etc.

To start with though, something very simple would be great so that
the system can at least be tested out.

Can anyone help with this?

Nick
