OT: Ethernet or parallel printer interace?



An HP Laserjet 4600 (17ppm colour) printer has just fallen off the back of an order (not cheap at 1200 quid, but the same features would have cost 5 grand a year ago, and this one is free).

 

At the moment it is connected to one of the workgroup PCs which is again connected to the rest of the network via a wireless card. Printer use isn’t going to be huge.

 

Is there going to be much of an advantage in connecting the printer directly to the TCP/IP network, and if so can anyone point me in the direction of a wireless -> wired gateway. I know I could buy a WAP11, but I’d like to keep it on the cheap side for the time being…
