OK, looking at this further, using 2 highish gain antennae, is it 
possible to direct their "beams" to meet at the apex of a
triangle 
somewhere above ground, thus avoiding buildings, hills etc which 
might be in the way?
Also, if you're going to use a high gain antenna, do you need a 
special card or AP, or any additional hardware to amplify signals etc?
