Principally because I was intending to upgrade to Sky+ at "some
point" in 
the future anyway. - I was holding out in the expectation (hope?) that 
they'd make their subscription model match Tivo's and allow a one-off 
lifetime sub rather than only offering a monthly one... doesn't see to be
any sight of such a change on the horizon, so I would most likely have gone
for it early next year anyway...

This offer just made me do it a bit sooner....
