Re: Maximum USB

What's wrong with Xcams? They're wireless so you don't need to bother
with all that wiring and you can view 4 cameras simultaneously (using
4 channels of the 2.4ghz band) or use the same frequency for dozens
of Xcams and switch between cameras by sending X10 commands to
activate the one you want to view. Connecting up sensors (PIRs,
pressure mats etc) to an intelligent unit (PC, Comfort, HomeVision)
can automatically activate the camera where motion is detected.

There's lot of software around that records to your hard disk based
on various modes - 24/7 video or stop-frame recording, FTP upload of
frames, triggered on motion detection, plus internet streaming.

Quality is good from a live Xcam feed but if you want to digitally
record it make sure you do so at 640x480 because 320x240 is only good
enough to monitor what's happening as opposed to identifying faces
and details, unless the Xcam is up close to the subject.

Gary.
