RE: Maximum USB

Ah, without this is pretty much useless to me for the intended use as I have to mask off areas, of course different in each zone.

Hi,

I have not used Gotcha with multiple cams for the simple reason that I don't have a multiple input capture card.

I cannot evaluate the  problem with the mask in multicam environment, because of that reason.

Sorry that I cannot help you.

Dan

P.S. You can use USB webcams in Gotcha multicam only if they are 3com HomeConnect or compatible. See:

Dan,

How did you overcome using the masks in Gotcha with multiple cameras using only a single cam setup in Gotcha? I wanted to use this so the cams were live for capture 24/7, the only way was a multi-capture card that dealt with up to four cams on separate streams, those cards are not cheap. As I understand it this cannot be done using web cams at all, IMO, thereby negating the usefulness and responsiveness of a security camera setup. Since I have trees and bushes that tend to sway about a bit when the wind gets up this is a problem using motion detection and capture, damn shrubbery, the upside of said green things of course is that they do afford a fair bit of privacy around the property.

I agree though that Gotcha is a very good piece of software but to get the best from a multi-cam setup I do think you need seem decent hardware.

I use gotcha for 2 years now and it locks only if you have a bad camera driver.

Now I have a Philips ToU Cam Pro connected to Gotcha and it never locks. I think this is one of the best webcams available on the market (<1lux, CCD, full automatic or manual adjustments).

Gotcha! works great on Windows 9x/2000/XP (tested by me). The main issue can be the camera driver.

Let's say, the Philips ToU Cam XS is one of the worst possible solution for Gotcha. It hangs a lot (especialy in XP) and it is allmost unusable at low light.

P.S. I'll check the supervision site. It is the first time I hear about this product.
