Tim,

This is probably the sort of country that xAP is heading for, or certainly,
it's the vision of the future that I have...
A smart control app on the PDA, using the 802.11 as a transport for xAP
network messages, and bridged out onto the other networks (serial/CAT5/WLAN)
where devices (like an IR sender/receiver for isntance) live..

The sheer flexibility which will come from having a shared protocl between
lots of disimilar kit is something that's only just becoming clear.

I think the ultimate addition to the PDA-as-remote paradigm is a "locator"
gizmo, so the pda can tell with authority which area of the house it is in,
adding a great degree on intuitive use to the apps.
