heh :)

The game Unreal Tournament (first person shooter, quake style) has game
types where a team of players work cooperatively.

The "assault" variant is a game type where one team defends a base, and the
other attacks it, against the clock, then the teams swap round. the team
with the best team wins that map. Maps include scenarios such as D-day style
storming of a beach fortress to destroy the coastal guns, or infiltrating a
fortified base, and placing demolition charges to destroy a road bridge and
so on..

Wars are played as the best of fourteen maps, with each team choosing their
seven favourite maps to play on. These games are much more stimulating than
"every man for themselves" Quake matches, with most clans using Voice
communications and developing quite detailed tactics for each map. Clan Wars
typically take 2-3 hours.

A Clan is a group of players who compete in the European or World Leagues,
and our Clan, =[FDC]= (myself and Jenni both play) is actually pretty good.
We earned promotion this month to the 1st Division of the European League.

The league ( http://www.utassault.net ) consists of 51 Clans, with about 600
players. The European UT assault community consists of perhaps 1100 or so
people.

all good fun :)
