A mate & I have been talking about this for a little while. One idea we liked was taking the surround from a mains or LV halogen fitting (the bit that fits into the ceiling) and replacing the normal bulb with a circular piece of plexiglass, drilled with a number of holes to suit the OD of the LEDs. There's a  

 

A piece of 50mm diameter Perspex with an array of white LEDs sounds like it would do the job nicely, and not look out of place.

 

Damn you!   Now when's the next LED bulk buy Kieran, seeing that I passed on the first?  DOH...
