Don't worry, I'm fine.
I just wanted to point out that when they advertise that multiregion chip they don't mention that it works on RGB out only.
BTW, I think that I bough mine from the same company you did.

That's the way it is Nik ... just because it doesn't work the way you want it to there's no need to get huffy!

NTSC is NTSC and PAL is PAL - in France there's Secam too!

I bought a "proper" standards convertor which would take in any of PAL / NTSC / Secam / PAL60 and convert them to PAL / NTSC / Secam and it was £800 (for something *I* considered worthwhile) ... I didn't like paying £800 for it but at the time it was necessary - that standards convertor is currently sitting at a friends house behind a US rear projection TV converting everything that is thrown into it into NTSC!

Nowadays over here *MOST* UK sourced TV's will support being fed PAL, NTSC or PAL60 - all but one of mine do - but usually anything older than 6 years may well not handle either PAL60 or NTSC.

Remember - *YOU* are trying to do something out of the "ordinary" ... you're wanting to play DVDs that were not intended for the UK on kit sourced in the UK, you have to expect to have to do a little work and incur a few costs and hurdles.

I have a Sony CX860D DVD jukebox sourced from multiregionmagic in Peterborough and it works faultlessly on every disc that I have thrown at it ... I have its S-Video output piped into my AV amp and that is as good as s-video gets (no colour problems or anything), I have its component feed piped to my projector (or I did when the projector was out) and that is perfect too, composite video works fine as well as I have been running that into a rather cute 7" widescreen LCD monitor that I have borrowed from someone.

Now, if you step back and examine the problem, do some research into what the capabilities of your kit are, then you might find that you can do what you want to do cheaper and with no hassle.

But, that's a crap!. It means that if I want to watch Region 1 movies over S-video i need to spend more than £100 (transcoder + MR chip).
Is there any workaround?
What if TV supports NTSC (real one)? Would it work then?
It might be that mine supports it, but I have to check.
Cheers,
Nik

Phil is correct :)
NTSC 4.48 is also known as PAL 60 and is how we are able to
playback NTSC tapes on our PAL VCR's... BUT only for playback
you cannot record it. I think Brazil uses this as its official
Tv standard ?

A transcoder simply converts 3.58 into 4.48 and the cost about
£50 (50 Uk pounds) .. or sometimes you can pick them up on
eBay for around £30.
