I'd thought that film canisters might be useful.  Drill hole in end enough for
lens to pop through but stop flange on bottom of LED, potting compound into the
canister to keep it watertight.  Screw lid to some sort of stake and clip
canister back onto lid.

Should be fairly secure particularly the black canisters as the lids fair snap
onto those puppies plus a black canister is more easily seen when mowing or
weeding the flower beds :o} !

Would probably work indoors as well as the canisters will take a spray paint
finish but look pretty ok just left black.

if you could get some sort of lightweight ball/socket mounting you could fit
more than one to a back plate and be able to point them in different directions.
