Tony,
I have BT Openworld Home500 ADSL subscription with USB frog etc. I have
it
almost an year now, so I'll be able to change ISP soon.
I'm also considering switching type of ADSL from this USB type to
ethernet
type. What I ment under futureproof is that if buy Vigor 2600, if I
switch
to ethernet type, I'll still be able to use it as firewall, router,
switch
etc.
I am not sure that 2200 USB is possible to use with ethernet type of
ADSL,
do you know?
Nik

Hey Nik,
Whatever you want to do, it's up to you.
I would go for the 2600 myself, but some ppl here seem more
concerned with
saving a few pennies than having neat al-in-one solutions, so I
offered it
as a possibility.
I don't know what you mean about the futureproof element - you don't
use
the
frog with the 2600 at all. It simply has an ADSL modem built
in.
If you switch to cable, you lose that aspect of it, though you can
still
use
the switch side of things.
If you are looking for flexibility in switching to a different type
of
broadband, then you are back to a two box solution - eg the 2200
series +
an
adsl ethernet modem. Then if yuo switch to NTL or BY, you plug
your cable
modem into the 2200 and away you go.
In terms of software features, they should all be pretty much
the
same.......
