RE: Bulk Buy, anyone?

I'll start the ball rolling then, based on a notional 20 units.  Depending
on how it pans out, I might be able to handle the whole thing, but it looks
like I'm being lined up for a project that might keep me away from email/web
for about 4 days a week, so we'll have to see.

Anyone wanting to read a review might want to check out the excellent
eopinions site at

Peter,

That would be fantastic if you could kick off proceedings...

As far as I'm concerned, if you want to do the full organisation of a BB,
you're welcome... but if you're not prepared to commit to that amount of
work, then handling the negotiation would be a superb help.

Note that I'm NOT committing to that amount of work either... I'm figuring
that if we can get an offer on the table, then a volunteer will appear to
organise it :-)

I've been doing a bit more digging.  From the sites linked from the Roomba
site, 2 of them ship internationally...

http://www.hammacher.com/publish/66632.asp want 16% shipping - about ?21 per
unit (stock levels not shown on web site)

http://www.sharperimage.com/us/en/catalog/productview.jhtml?sku=IR105 do
ship, but no prices or stock info available.

Brookstone do not ship outside of the US, but do accept international
billing addresses, so if anyone has a friendly contact willing to take local
delivery and forward on....

It's runs on rechargeable batts (stating the obvious, it's hardly going to
run on petrol!), but I've not been able to find any details on the charger,
i.e. is it a multi-voltage jobbie - anyone know?

Mark - I've not emailed anybody to check stock levels and see what discounts
would be available for a BB - do you want me to?  I suspect discounts will
be low, just because demand is currently outstripping supply.

That's exactly how I phrased the question (I quote "Can you let me know if
you have a UK distributor for the Roomba cleaner, or whether you are
currently seeking a distributor?") partly with the thought in mind that the
supplies section of the company I work for might want to look at this type
of thing (they didn't!).

I only sent 1 email, so didn't try very hard, but judging from the supply
problems they're having in the States, they've got their hand full just
supplying the local market.

Pete,

I was thinking that we might position any approach to iRobot as "we'd like
to BECOME a supplier" :-)
