Don't be too sure ... many relays are sealed, but several higher power per
case-size (high power, small size) relays are vented as the switching arc
produces gasses that would otherwise de-rate the relay contacts.

CPC do a mains powered Natural Gas detector (2003 catalogue, p1688 SR01068 @
35.28).  They also do a range of Carbon Monoxide alarms.  With the battery
operated versions you could fit their "9V to 12V Conversion PCB" SR00543 @
9.94 (page 1686) which gives a switched relay output in an alarm condition -
this could be taken to a Comfort input.
