I use powermids and have had these problems:
- They don't like sunlight on them
= Tivo's don't like to receive signals from them
- Sky Boxes don't like to receive signals from TiVo's through them.

Now the first problem is annoying and requires careful placement and/or
closing curtains.
The second is resolved by moving the tivo into the lounge so it receives
a direct signal
The third by moving the sky box to be near the TIVO _or_ by having a
hardwired IR link from TiVo via CAT5 to the Sky box.

The remaining problem then is controlling TiVo from a location other
than where the tivo actually is (eg from a bedroom).
This, I have yet to solve.
If I installed Xantech hardwired IR everywhere then I would have no
problems.
However, Xantech is expensive and the IR receivers are about 80? quid
apice.
This is somewhat offputting :(
