Depends on the number of cameras, actualy for 1 to 3 its cheaper

Power conusmption is about half for deficated system

And hence cost, its very unlikely you would get a PC running window to
have the uptime of a CCTV system. Actually the reason I found out about
the system was I was called in because there WIP system had crashed, the
workstation they had put the card in and software was a client on there
WIP it had a conflict with there SQL server.

How confident would you be to say leave a embedded CCTV system or a PC
for say a month, I have to say I would go with the CCTV

It's a lot easer to hide a CCTV contol than a PC

No some CCTV systems already have a battery built in

Most PC,s would be in a offce, you would have to run all the cable to
the PC, the CCTV could be hidden away in a cupboard

True, but Its much less of a probelem if the CCTV is taken out rather
than my HA PC, HV, Comfort, Lighting system......

Software conflicts, OS restriction, noise.....

I have no axe to grind here I do have some CCTV but its just linked to
the TV, I am just expressing my opinion
