Sorry - maybe I didnt explain well - it was to point out that the mic is
held in place by the front plate, rather than it having any relationship
to binding the screen to the front plate.

You and Phil have probably taken more Fuji's apart than any Fujitsu
engineer!
Couldn't work out how the mic plays a part in holding the
touchscreen to the TFT? Mine seems only to be held in place by the
friction/stickiness of the rubber strips between the touchscreen and
the TFT which stop movement when the case is screwed together. Is
there something I'm missing?
I thought about using the existing case screws and positions to
mount a new surround directly on top of the touchscreen (rubber
membrane still in place). This way, the gap between surround and
screen would be minimal. Can you see any reasons why I
couldn't/shouldn't do this? If I'm successful, it'd make for a good
looking panel (sprayed up, the surround may even look as though it
should be there!).
