I'm hoping that a simple stepper motor or solenoid can be used to
pop the waste.. but I've not actually seen how the popup waste
mechanism
work yet.
Yes the filler/overflow is two different holes so it can fill and
overflow
at the same time.. no idea if the rates of flow are the same.. I'll
have
to give it a test when it all arrives :)
Dallas temp sensor etc sounds cool.. but I was just going to use an
inline
valve to set a premix ratio, which should be good enough for most of
the
time.

You don't actually have to 'pop' up and down the waste
of course - if
you had an inline valve then it could be effectively popped up all the
time
and just shut off at the valve. However cosmetically you might be
better
with a normal type of plug hole.
Not sure just how the overflow filler bit works but I
guess it has a
water exit route whilst filling. Just have to make sure the flow is
enough
such that you can't fill the bath faster than it empties at the overflow -
I
found out the hard way after I changed the hot and cold to both
pressured
feeds. It must have a mixer built in I guess too so you will have to
adjust
your flows separately & proportionally to get the temp right. Sounds
like a
Dallas temp sensor job and HV to me !

Subject: [ukha_d] Auto Bath Filler
A few weeks ago there was a small discussion on auto filling a
bath...
I just found what I believe to the ideal solution.. bath overfill
filler
kits. The great thing with these is that the taps are by its very
nature
completely separate from the filler/spout. This means that I can 'T'
into
the supply pipes before the taps and provide an alternative route to
the
same filler/spout controlled via a relay (like Ian Birds
irrigation
project). This way I can have full manual control via the tap(s)
and
also full auto control without the need for a separate spout !
I just ordered the complete new bathroom suit complete with
overflow
filler
kit from Vernon Tutbuty (model = Excel) with has got to be one of
the
coolest
taps around.. like a mini joystick. (we've gone for the beech
handle)
Don't know if SWMBO will ever let me make it auto filling but at
least I
now have the option :)
Just need to figure out a way of controlling the pop-up waste..
i.e. Open water for 10 minutes (in case bath full)
Shut waste
turn on taps for 15 minutes (to fill
bath)
I would probably do the filling via simple timer device at the
actual
bath end, so I don't have to send a stop message...just in case it
never
makes it!)
