We're building nodes for about =A3100 a pop.  They're based on a low

ower PC
booting from compact flash (no moving parts) in a waterproof (and
explosion-proof!) case.  5dB antennas are =A310 a pop from
http://www.solwise.co.uk/ and
are=
the most you can legally use.  You can
make more powerful directional antennas for a similar price.
