I wasn't confusing two.
A web surfer will browse to a page, look at it for x amount of time (not
using the net conenction), move on etc.
A gamer requires a constant stream of info flowing back and forth - where
everyone is, trajectory of bullets etc etc.
If using a voice enabled game, then there is the compressed voice info to
shove around the net too.

They also donwload maps, decals etc and, if moving to the valve STEAM model
in the future, will download whole games at a time.

You can do gaming on 56k, but not as well as on 512k or 1024k:-)
