CAT5 as a loudspeaker transport

Has anyone tried to ship output from their amp to loudspeakers using 
cat5e?   I have just installed this in part of my house and would
like to listen to music in a different room on the cheap.

In this instance I'm not terrible bothered about quality - the 
current connection is using bell-wire.

Also, has anyine had any luck using cat5e as a phono transport?
