We were lucky enough to be able to put steel brackets onto the 1st floor
joists to mount our brut while we ere building.  Once on the ceiling they
are very neat...

Agreed.  My Mrs made a pair of curtain lining out of that "black out"
material which means we can have darkness day or night.
