How can they tell ?

AFAIU the subscription is linked to the serial number of the machine
(or at least some unique number). I'm guessing that when the TiVo dials
up to get its programme guide it must tell the servers its serial number
which the server then looks up to see if that box is subscribed. All that
would be needed is a reduced bill to the owner.. the boxes would update
as normal. If they really wanted then they could implement a CLI to make
sure that both boxes were ringing from the same phone line.

Am i right... or am I wrong... ?
