I have just returned from Nepcon at the NEC. (this is the major
electronics manufacturing show in the UK run every two years).
It was a very depressing experience with no signs of UK investment
and a very poor turnout. That aside, one of the stands had a Pace
blade Tablet PC on it, I spent about an hour playing with it and
here are my opinions. - I have skipped the spec for it as that is
available elsewhere.
1. Very tough and rugged front screen unlikely to break in normal
use, he wouldn't let me drop test it though :-(
2. Quite heavy - comparable with an ultra laptop
3. Surprised the keyboard was IR but worked very well over a long
range (up to about 30 feet)
4. Tablet version of XP looks well sorted (as much as I could tell
in an hour)Nice onboard keyboard
5. Apparently it will do speach to text "I've only just got it and I
<=
BR>
havn't tried that yet but the data sheet says it will"
6. Not sure if WiFi is inbuilt or card but there is a "Cardbus"
s=
lot
in it.
7. Did not get hot
8. Hard button to switch between landscape and portrait mode.
Overall impresion: shave 500g off the weight and I'll bite your arm
off for one........ (I am a confirmed Ipaq user at present)
