Just a thought relating to this. If you plan to stay put a long time is it
worth alienating the neighbor?

Have you spoken to them about your concerns to see if a non imposed solution
could be reached?

Might be worth it, but might be worth taking professional advice first to
make sure you don't compromise your arguments. (I can't believe I'm
advocating lawyers)
