Waaayyyyy OT: Planning permission
..well this group contains a wealth of knowledge (not to mention
opinions!)
and the HA stuff is thin on the ground, so hope you don't mind this
post:
My house is a semi with a garage stuck on one side, adjacent to the
garage
of the next semi along.
Our garage was, long before we bought the place, built upon and converted
to
a kitchen downstairs with extra bedrooms upstairs. Other ppl along
the road
have done this sort of thing also.
So now neighbours garage is adjacent to the end of my house.
Neighbour now wants to build on top of _his_ garage.
My concern here is that this would effectively turn our house into a
terraced house which, IMO, would decrease it's value and would also have
the
unwelcome side effect of him overlooking our garden (v.nosy chap,
believe
me).
What are ppl's views on this? I mean, technically it _is_ still
semi
because there would be a 6" gap between my house and his, but
realistically,
would that affect the price and could I contest planning permission on
that
basis?
I'm pretty sure there's no way I would win because our house is
converted,
but then I bought it as such, I didn't do it myself, and neighbour
either
didn't object or bought after the conversion and basically was happy with
it
- so it's not a case of me doing something and then not wanting him to
do
it.
Basically, I would _rather_ he didn't because of overlooking us but I
am
more concerned about this negatively affecting the price should we wish
to
sell and might consider contesting on that grounds.....
Any thoughts?
Tony.
