I've got one of the older E115 I think demo boards with 4 devices and 4
LED
lit pads...
I still occasionally catch myself just playing with the lighrs They are -
as
you say very impressive little devices.

Couple of suggestions based on my experience  -  I believe the
demo kit you
have uses a ring of copper around the LED 'hole' to gice sensing.  I
had the
devices working relably throught up to 15mm of toughend saftey glass just
by
using a 'solar' window film as the sense pad.  The nice thing about
the film
is that you can choose a darker colour and so get a pleasing consealment
of
the LEDs / Lamps behind....

BTW use an adhesive aluminium or copper conductive tape to attach to
the
film for the best results.

I am working them into a PIC design as the 'keyboard'. I am using the 6
switch IC. If you look on their site it is the demo board with the
pretty
LED's in the switch areas. Very impressive and the sooner I get onto
the
keypad bit the better. It is great fun playing with the development
board.

I'd say that the Sensor switches are probably based on the Qprox E116
Lamp
dimmer Touch switch IC

Being nosey, what are you using the Qprox's for?

I've used the single switch o/p and matrix switches for Exhibition and
museum exhibit control in the past and once installed they've worked
flawlessly - The director chappie at Qprox is very helpful too.

Very likely. I am looking at some switches from QPROX which are also
based
on the same technology just for micro controller inputs instead
