I am not surprised that this issue has raised it's head again. My original
alternative proposal will still be archived somewhere and at the time the
prooposal was made, I had positive feedback from a number of long term list
members for said proposal (often off list) but the general list consensus
was to stick to Yahoo so it has not progressed to a live system. My
original
proposal remains an option should a move become a majority desire.

In order to create an accurate picture, it may be better to make a poll
into
this have multiple stages. The first getting feedback on staying with or
leaving Yahoo and then investigating the options if there ia a majority in
favour of an alternative provision. I would suggest that the initial poll
is
"Assuming all the functionality of Yahoo could be sourced elsewhere,
would
you prefer to stay with Yahoo?" with merely Yes and No as responses.

The actual provision of services elsewhere would not really be a huge
issue.
Moving the list members is much more difficult so without having the
initial
majority vote for move, further investigation is largely worthless.

Mark.
