Something like the VIOM module
(http://www.phaedrusltd.co.uk/pages/html/viom.html)
will give you 16 inputs that you could connect any off the shelf PIR that
has a contact closure operation to. - (actually, you could even use them as
analog inputs, with a EOL resistor setup if you wanted to...)
There is a plug-in for Homeseer for this module (I wrote it!), it's very
basic (it was my first attempt at writing a plugin), but it works. I don't
know about autom8it so much, but if it lets you access a serial port, then
it should be possible.
There is even a rudimentary amount of on-board processing on the VIOM, so
some automation could be achieved right off the board, without even going
into Homeseer or Autom8it... - mains relays driven by the output ports can
be set to operate in response to the inputs, complete with timers and so
on...
This is a very cheap way of getting a quite useful interface for wired
automation. You could of course spend a shed-load more if you want to!
(Did someone say Homevision?)
