Are you sure that it is illegal? If i bought a cable for a UPS say and then
needed another one, would belling out the cable to find the pinouts to make
a copy be wrong? or even asking someone the pinouts without buying the
cable to make your own... The cable is simply Rs232 but with a conversion
from ttl levels to normal computer (12v) levels.
