      fussy to the extend i don't want hums, awful quality.

      Depends how fussy you are Amar ;)
     
      For most things like surrounds and multi room I find 79 strand is
      perfectly acceptable abd can be had reasonably cheaply from the usual
      suspects - Maplin, CPC, RS etc.
