I was using mine to distribute MP3s around the house, but I've installed
Debian on my media server for testing.  I was perfectly happy with the sound
quality.  The second one is for distributing sound from the lounge to other
rooms.  This was purely so I can go and get some food from the kitchen
without missing out what's on!  Eventually, I intend to have speakers set
into the ceiling in every room hooked up to an amp.  The amplifier will turn
on via X10 when a person is sensed with a PIR.  I suppose it's about time I
updated my HA site!
