The Dallas (now Maxim) stuff is the same, You don't always get all of
the
stuff you ask for.
I'm sure if you're convincing enough you could persuade a 'real person'
to
send a couple of samples though...

Not sure if this is any cop as I haven't actually looked at the
datasheet, but the latest Maxim Design News leaflet trumpets their
MAX4455 Integrated OSD Generator.
In the same issue, they also have a huge 32x16 crosspoint video switch,
the MAX435[5-8]. Looks like it has OSD and buffers built in. 100 bucks
tho ;(
