RE: Freeview & TiVo

John,

Think of TiVo like a Video Recorder.
Think of FreeView like a satellite receiver.

TiVo _records_ programmes. However, rather than making you type in the start/end time by hand, it also downloads some programme information so you can pick programmes by name... and does a whole bunch of other tricks. However, it doesn't have the ability to receive anything extra.

FreeView allows you to receive rather more channels, without paying a monthly subscription. However, it doesn't have the ability to record anything.

TiVo (no FreeView)      =            Record 4(5) channels
FreeView (no TiVo)      =             Watch 30 channels
TiVo + Freeview            =             Record 30 channels

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Mark

I don't know too much about TiVo's but was thinking about getting one, now
all of a sudden there is something called Freeview which offers a number of
free TV channels through a normal aeriel, but it means getting a new
gadget of some sort. Would I actually need this gadget if I bought a
TiVo?
