This registration was first made available in 1979."

You can write to DVLA in Swansea and quote the registration number and ask
them to send you details of the owner - useful for hit and runs etc - but I
know registration companies use them to track owners - cost is £4
AFAIK

In order to transfer the registration mark, both vehicles need a valid MOT
-
so it must exist and be in roadworthy condition (unless you know a friendly
MOT mechanic :-)
