heh, reminds me of the chap Jenni and I used to work with..

He bought his (then) girlfriend a dishwasher for christmas, "so you
won't
have to spend so long cleaning up the dishes after dinner"

strangely enough, she left him about 45 seconds later.

and by new year, he still hadn't figured out why....

Ian.

Regards,

Mark

No No No No No No No No No
Getting your partner a vacuum cleaner for xmas is NOT a good idea.
It is a thing for the house, and handing over something like
that rather than something "nice" will most likely result in
bodily harm.
This is in the same category as a fridge. Not a good justification
for buying it!
If justification is required .... we could be doing with a new hoover,
and this one is automatic, it does it all for us, so we can save the
time on cleaning, leaving more time for other things.
If still she doesnt want it, does it really matter, she has just
shown that she must ENJOY cleaning so much there will never be
a time when she can ask you to help out, as she obviously enjoys
doing it herself. Spend the money on some other toy :)
