Are you aware that an omni-directional antenna will take the signal from one
area to produce a better signal in another.  Generally this means you get a
pancake-like radiation pattern, rather than a tennis ball pattern.  Whilst
you may eradicate one blindspot, you may create others.  Also, be careful of
the legal limit.  This normally means you can't use more than a 5dB gain
antenna.  I don't want to be negative through my entire post, so try
http://www.solwise.co.uk for antennas.  I have a 5dB omni from there, and
it's quite nice (and *very* magnetic).  I've yet to test distances though.
