Although flippantly phrased I was being serious...

...we have a narrow passage down the side of the house with a high (8ft
or so) wall at the other side. There is a wrought iron gate to keep the
dogs in and the kids out and that acted like a very effective
"filter"
extracting all the debris from the wind that came rushing down there
last night - the large number of trees to the rear of the house lost a
lot of minor branches and limbs and they all seemed to get trapped
behind the gate. Took quite a bit of clearing this morning!
