The council planning dept. most local to the house is the first place they
should look, they will find out all they need to know from them.  There is a
common misconception that Class B means the listing applies to the frontage
& main structure only, but this is not the case, as I found out to my
(almost) great expense.

They should be prepared for some ludicrous problems, such as hideous 70's
"features" being part of the listing and unchangeable.  Maintenance may also
have to be carried out with materials like those in the original
construction, which is why my house (c1500) internal walls are plastered
with nothing but a mixture of lime putty & sand. That and the fragility of
the walls is sort of how I came across HA in the first place, and I'm glad I
did.  Chasing cables into these wall is a horrifying prospect.
