Interesting, but having read the previous comments over the last couple of
days it seems that getting the video off of the Tivo for archive is an
issue/pain?

I also like the idea on the sky+ box that it doesnt do any compression (i.e.
no loss) of the recorded program. Obviously takes load more disk space, but
better quality?

With my own video capture box I could compress just the stuff I want to
archive, at a later date..

Thanks though, I'll try the no subs option if I can't get a suitable video
capture card.

TIVO can be used with no subscription (with v.2.5 software), but whether
you'd want to I don't know. It works like a plain videorecorder - you
programme it with start, stop and channel.
