I've been doing it like that for a long time...... 2 secs while I check
the settings.....

I think the trick is to set it to *just* a spoken warning...... I'm 
pretty sure I had similar problems when I had spoken and popup 
warnings..... I've been using it spoken ony with 2 minutes prior to the
programme as the default reminder.
