I agree with the lack of logic, but the fact remains. Tivo used to work fine connected via my old HomeHighway setup - the only change has been to convert the line back to analogue and install ADSL. I'm using the supplied TIVO phone cable, plus an extension. My line inside the house is slightly odd since I have Comfort and all the phones are chained off the back of Comfort - however, I can kill ADSL by plugging in TIVO in both upstream of Comfort (via the master socket) or downstream. To be honest I've not wanted to experiment too much with what breaks it since I am paranoid the line might not resync, and BT are utterly crap at fixing ADSL faults. I think the best solution will be to buy a Turbonet card for Tivo.

I'll check and see if an analogue modem breaks ADSL in the same way as TIVO.

Ray.

there is no logic to this and it seems to indicate a problem with either your Tivo cable (are you using the supplied one?) or the set up of your adsl line. Does an ordinary analogue modem work with the analogue port on the adsl line?

I use TIVO on the analogue port of my ADSL line. Simply plugging TIVO in kills my ADSL connection dead. Physically disconnecting TIVO from the phone line restores the ADSL connection.

Just splitting this into a seperate thread....

I have never heard of anyone having problems with the tivo on the analogue port of adsl lines and Tivo actually defaults to v34  operation (you have to force it to use v90) so you are unlikely to have problems.

A comment was made about Tivo using caller id, I am not certain on this but I am nearly sure I have had Tivo running on both my BT and NTL lines. I will reconfigure things on my pabx to check this tomorrow....and yes tivo does work through a PABX before someone asks.
