RE: Re: ShowShifter vs. TiVo

I have all my kit hidden away in node 0, with a powermid doing the IR control form e.
I haven't had a problem with delays in it - though I do find sunlight fallingd irectly on the transmitter causes it to fail to pick up signals.
Also, occasionally, the LED indicating it is xmitting sometimes is on permanently, as if someone is sitting on a remote - which they are not, but it doesn't interfere with controlling other devices so I don't care......

What I _have_ found is that it is slightly inconvenient/annoying to have to go out of the room to put on a DVD or video, but it's not so often to be a major problem.  At the time, I bought a 300 disc CD changer rather than the (at the time) recently released DVD changer because the DVD changer was not compatible with my Slinke interface.
If I was to do it again, I'd get a 400 disc DVD changer and ditch the CD changer in favour of Audiotrons and a music server.
This is kind of happening now as I've got an audiotron and another on the way soon, though I will be de-centralising it because SWMBO is not very HA compliant so she can fiddle with the knobs on the front of the Audiotron, whilst I control it >from
It will still be tied to the distributed audio system because I'll use a KAT 5m odule to link it back to the central amp.

I would love to be able to move Tivo, DVD etc else where, but I find that using a Powemid causes an annoying delay and is less reliable.  Have you seen/overcome this problems ?
