Dear All

Well I've finally got my whole house audio sorted for the new barn, so
now its on to Project 'B' - Lighting. the problem is I'm a little torn
between which way to go?

I've got a few options, the barn has been wired with two system
circuits, the main lighting circuit is on a standard system but to aid
the automation process I've had neutral feeds placed back to every
switch. Secondly I have various runs of cable that  feed various zones
all coming back to a dedicated consumer unit so I can use X10 Din Rail
modules or a dedicated lighting system such as Lutron or Polaron.

So which way do I go? Lutron style zoned dimming control or X10 or a
combination of the both? The majority of all automation control is via
Xantech IR receivers placed in each room. I have to say I'm a bit put
off by X10 because of the negative posts I've seen regarding stray
signals, erratic behaviour, fuse blowing etc?

What are peoples comments, suggestions, recommendations?

Also as a side; Lutron units use something called Pelv wiring for
controller linking. Is Shielded CAT5, to the Pelv standard? Also what is
the safe voltage CAT5 can take, for relay switching etc (Curtain control
etc)?

Thanks

Rob
