The Ultimate 106 (mine came from Tamms who were cheapest at the time)
http://www.shopcreator.net/mall/tamms/products/product-110580.stm has
the option to make one or more extensions into 'payphone' lines which
allow direct external dialling but no other features (also doesn't
allow access to internal extensions). Before you say this doesn't
help, bear with me....

My SWMBO had exactly the same reaction - along the lines of 'I can't
be bothered with all this dial 9 for an outside line business'.

I said I could set up the house phones (3 extensions, 1 or 2 phones
on each) in this way; she could use them as normal but she wouldn't
be able to call my lines. Agreed to try it.

I started simple - my line(s) in the office go through the PBX; the
only phone in the house on the PBX was the doorphone (like a 7th
extension). So she could call me, but only by going outside the door.

Then I put one extension in the house and plugged the cordless into
it. So to get me in the office, SWMBO has to find the cordless
handset, switch it on and press '14' for my extension - or go outside.

I can call her from the office, again only on the cordless which she
might have left somewhere.

After a couple of weeks of this, she's asking me to hurry up and
convert all the sockets so she can use any phone...

And the whole deal was sweetened by offering to set up the speed dial
numbers in whatever order suited her...

I didn't bother with the wiring kit as I wanted to use Series 4
full-size plates with two lines on each.

So far I'm pleased with the system, and plan to use HA integration to
do things like divert the doorphone to the mobile, set answerphone on
or off etc. Now if only I could find a way to set the PBX's clock
without having to pay for CID...
